Cardigans

Image
I finally felt confident in my crochet skills to try to make some wearables that aren't hats. I started with this cardigan from Ravelry .  I love the forest green I picked for this project. I used 5 skeins of Yarn Bee Soft Secret from Hobby Lobby. I ended up giving this sweater to my sister for her birthday. I made another one in denim blue that I gifted to a friend. I timed myself on the second sweater, and it took my 21 hours to complete.  My next project is something for myself! Stay tuned!

Working from Home in (Bangtan) Style!

Due to COVID-19, I've been working from home since March 2020. I didn't really have a designated office at home. I did have a desk (see previous post about painting it!) but its small. I wanted to make a happy work space that I enjoyed being in. And of course... it had to be BTS-themed. 😂😁  Here it is! I bought a printer riser and another wooden stand off Amazon. Almost all of the BTS decorations are from Wish. Have you ever used Wish? Everything is super cheap but takes a couple weeks to arrive. During the height of the corona virus, some items took 3 months to get here.  The white board is from Walmart and I added the boarder using some wrapping paper. The magnets were originally stickers that I put on sticky magnet sheets and cut out.  The water bottle was $1 at Walmart. I decorated it with stickers from RedBubble and then coated in many layers of dishwasher-proof Mod Podge.  The coaster was a free wood sample from Home Depot. I printed a photo, glued it on, and applied d

Office Redesign

I finally rose the ranks at work to earn my own office (goodbye cubicle!). Does my office have windows? Of course not. But what it does have is a giant pillar smack dab in the middle. 😓 So I had my work set out for me to make it cute!  The forest river tapestry is from Society6 - I already had this hanging in my old cubicle. The couch is from Walmart. I crocheted the pillow covers. The flowers around the pillar are from Etsy. They were the wrong shade of purple so I repainted them. My mom already had the blue table and I bought the flower vase from Hobby Lobby.  I will update this blog with some close-ups of the shelves some other time!

Pins Galore

During these quarantine months, my sister and I have rediscovered shrinky dinks. Remember those? When I was a kid, I had the shrinky dink oven.  It was so fun to use the little spatula to push the shrinkies into the light bulb heated oven and watch them shrink through the glass.  Eventually, the light bulb burned out. I have a feeling the shrinky dink oven sat in our garage for a few years before being tossed.  BUT You can still buy shrinking plastic at craft stores and shrink it in your normal kitchen oven.  So we have been making tons of shrinkies (mostly BTS-themed) and gluing pins and magnets to the back. We then coated them in resin for shine.  We made a whole BTS care package to mail to our sister in Canada.  I have quite the collection of pins at my office. Can you tell which ones I made and which I purchased?

Power Rangers Assemble!

Hello! It's been ages since I've posted! I have so many projects to share.  I'll start with this crocheted queen size blanket! I made this blanket for my bf as a Christmas present. The pattern is from Two Magic Pixels . This is corner-to-corner crochet (c2c). Its worked on the diagonal. This blanket took me 5 months to complete. My only regret was using cheap yarn - its a bit itchy! But my bf loved it :)
