Learning to Crochet

Image
Hello and happy winter! I've recently taken up crochet. I had a lot of trouble at first. I was trying to teach myself using free YouTube tutorials. After unraveling the same scarf 5 time, it finally clicked. Here is the first scarf I made. Other than wishing it was a little wider, I'm happy with how it turned out. After this I made a wider scarf with a red softer, bulkier yarn for my mom for Christmas:  This hat is the reason I learned how to crochet. My boyfriend is big fan of the Kansas Jayhawks. I was looking for a Christmas present for him online and saw a picture of a Jawhawk head hat for $40. They were selling the pattern for $5. I thought, how hard can it be? Turns out, it wasn't that difficult! This hat is made using only single crochet. Each face piece was made separately and sewn on. (l ink to the pattern ) My last three projects have been bulky hats for my sisters for Christmas. These hats are double crochet all around and two rows of single cro

Bridal Shower Decorations

My dear sister is getting married in less than 5 weeks! This Saturday is the Bridal Shower. Here are two projects I've been working on for the shower.  This is a frame the guests can take photos with at the shower. I bought a large poster board at Hobby Lobby and cut out the square in the middle. I used water color to paint the flowers on the top and fine tipped sharpies for the lettering. I think I will put another layer of paint over the flowers to make them darker so they show up better in photos. This picture collage is for a "Guess How Old the Bride Was" game. I purchased a cork board and a large piece of white paper, which I used as a background. The flowers are satin and I used hot glue to attach them to the frame. Hopefully everyone will have a good time at the shower! If its not too crazy, I will post more photos from the party!

I LOVE BREAD!

Is there anything better than warm bread fresh from the oven? I love this recipe from Frugal Living NW . It's a super simple process with very few ingredients. However, the dough takes at least 12 hours to rise. I like to make this in the evening and let it rise overnight.
